Working closely between the art department and set decoration, assisting as both an art department trainee-assistant and petty cash buyer.
My role began as a member of the art department, I was then given the opportunity to support set decoration due to them requiring extra hands, and my passions within the department.
I spent the pre-production weeks and early days of filming working with the designers script reading and assisted with breakdown. On the job shadow training in some basic site surveying and how to digitally draw a floor plan.
Predominantly supporting set decoration I worked as a petty cash buyer across the art dept, set dec, props, and standby crew, including delivering items to location sets, the prop workshop and purchasing last minute requests. I was involved with set decoration making, also ageing of a microwave, working at the props workshop, on location sets and in the office. In addition, learning about budgeting with regards to petty cash buying, VAT receipts whilst communicating with the Accounts department, and how to file PCB returns.
Throughout the production I researched for art dept, scenic painters, set dec and dressing, compiled images and information, created PDF files and added to the team Dropbox to be shared with the relevant people.
